Saint-Emilion’s best kept secrets #4: Château Larmande

Today we are meeting with Léa Bodin, Wineshops Manager for Château Larmande, a Saint-Emilion grand cru (fine)  wine!

Can you introduce your the Château Larmande to us?

Château Larmande is mentioned in official records as far back as the 16th century. The current owner, AG2R LAMONDIALE, has invested a lot in the property since the 1990s (when it was purchased). Today we are proud to offer a wine that is not only a fine wine, but also a stunning property to hold various events, and tours to discover more about the history of this chateau. The Château Larmande is perfect for wine, food and nature lovers.

How long have you been working there?

I have been working for AG2R LAMONDIALE properties for over 7 years now, and started working alongside Robin Chevillard (who manages events) to develop the oenotourism offer at Château Larmande since 2018.

What is your favourite time of year at the Château?

Without a doubt during wine harvesting season! It is the culmination of year of work, where different teams get to meet and work together: pickers, sorters, people putting the grapes into barrels.. We also have lots of season workers, which is a great time for sharing expertise and meeting new faces. The work can get a tad stressful though!

What kind of events do you organise? Who are they suitable for?

We offer various types of bespoke events to suit the needs of individuals or groups who want to discover our beautiful property. The spaces we have available mean that we can easily cater for and adapt to small or large groups… Whether you want to visit as a family, a group of friends or work colleagues, we will have an offer to meet your needs!

Which year is your favourite Château Larmande vintage?

2011 was a great year, this vintage is so fine and round, and will still taste divine for years to come. Why not try it alongside a roasted squab with some vegetables… To die for!

Thank you so much Léa for answering all of our questions! Find out more about Château Larmande on their website.
